Much of my work centers around the way that light and interior spaces come together to create the mood and emotion of a place. I am interested in the way that, for example, sunlight shifting through leaves or streaming into a cathedral in dusty columns can elicit a very specific reaction in the viewer. While some of my earlier work focuses on images of architectural spaces, my newer pieces seek to create a space that the viewer inhabits. Some of the works are meant to instill an atmosphere of gentle contemplation to carry the viewer beyond normal experience and into a moment of a subtle, silent existence. Other works produce a sense of ghostly otherworldliness that challenges the viewer’s sense of reality.

I also am interested in the intersections between seemingly unrelated or opposite concepts. How does physical light affect the viewer’s sense of internal, spiritual illumination? How does sunlight differ from artificial light? Can man create art objects that evoke the same mood or emotion in a viewer that images of nature do? These questions, and others, are what my artwork seeks to answer.
